| Nanyo holds 1st Kasalan ng Barangay |

The Barangay Council of Brgy. Nanyo under ABC Federation President, Hon. Demetrio Maligro, spearheaded its first kasalan ng barangay on September 28, 2009 at the Nanyo Covered Court as part of the fiesta celebration of Sr. San Miguel.
Brgy. Nanyo is only the second barangay, after Brgy. San Pedro, to have provided this service in the city. However, in an unprecedented move making this a more memorable occasion, the Local Government of Panabo headed by Mayor Jose L. Silvosa Sr., thru the City Council, granted a 50% discount on all marriage fees. On the other hand, the Barangay Council shouldered the remaining fees, thus making it an expense-free wedding ceremony for the 10 lucky couples. In addition to this, they received home ware sets as gift from Hon. Maligro and the Barangay Council.
Mayor Silvosa, who served as the solemnizing officer, said that the significance of this affair is the opportunity to legitimize children born out of wedlock. He added that another good thing out of legalizing a union is having a marriage license, which is a prerequisite for almost all transactions including children’s enrollment, ownership and inheritance claims, PhilHealth claims for hospitalization, death and disability benefits among others.
