Geographic Profile
The City of Panabo is the gateway to Davao Province in Mindanao.
It lies between latitude of 125 degrees, 3 minutes, 32 seconds,
to 125 degrees to 44 minutes North and longitude of 7 degrees,
14 minutes, to 7 degrees, 23 minutes East. It is bounded on
the Northeast and Northwest by the Municipality of Carmen,
on the Southwest by Davao Gulf and on the West by Davao City.
The city proper is located along Daang Maharlika (Pan-Philippines
Highways). It is accessible by land transportation and other
vehicles plying the Davao-Butuan and Cagayan routes. It is
thirty-two (32) kilometers away from Davao City and twenty-eight
(28) kilometers from Tagum City. It takes a 45 minutes drive
to Davao City from this city and 30 minutes drive to Tagum
City.
LAND AREA
Panabo has a total land area of 25,123 hectares, which is
approximately 7% of the total land area Davao Province. At
the present population growth rate of the City, there is an
urgent need to address this huge problem before its too late.
Drainage and Sewerage System
These facilities are soon to be installed and part of the
World Bank Loan under the Water District Development Program
to the tune of P60M package.
Cemeteries and Burial Grounds
Both the public and private cemeteries in this City are almost
occupied. Therefore there is a need to expand this facility
by way of land acquisition for expansion as well as adopting
a new cemetery site development plan.
City Infrastructure Profile
Power
The City is energized by the Davao Light and Power Company
(DLPC) ensuring that electricity runs uninterrupted twenty-four
(24) hours a day.
Transportation
The city is accessible by any means of land transportation.
Motorcycles or tricycles are used within the poblacion while
jeepneys are plying to rural barangays. It has four (4) types
of roads, namely: national, provincial, municipal and barangay
for a total of approximately 447.068 kilometers. Most of the
municipal road in the poblacion are concrete while the rest
are either asphalt or well-paved road.
Communication
Presently, two big telephone companies are serving the city
with highly sophisticated equipment, namely: Philippine Long
Distance Telephone (PLDT) and the Philippine communication
(PHILCOM). It has also cellsites for SMART, GLOBE, ISLACOM
and EXTELCOM. Aside from having a municipal post office, it
has BUTEL, RCPI AND PT & T for telegraphic services, LBC
Air Cargo, Aboitez Air and JRS Air Cargo for airfreight services.
The advent of communication satellites afforded a more enjoyable
TV viewing of programs locally and internationally.
Water System
Panabo Water District distributes domestic water requisites
of some poblacion households only.
Wharf
The wharves at Brgy. San Pedro can accommodate four (4) international
cargo vessels at a time and is so built to suit an inter-island
port for passenger vessels.
Economic Profile
Agricultural
The City's prime agricultural lands constitutes 78.78% of
the total land area that are planted to different crops of
which 46.48 percent is planted to banana while 25.26 percent
is planted to coconut. The remaining area is planted with
diversified crops such as corn, orchard/vegetables, rice and
ramie.
Livestock & Poultry
About 3,162.09 hectares is utilized for pasture land.Livestock
and poultry include chicken, swine, cattle, goat, carabao
and ducks.
Fishery
Fishes cultured in brackish water are bangus, catfish (heto)
and tilapia.
